Ms. Darboe is Executive Secretary and Office Coordinator of Give1 Project Gambia. The 22-year-old is a third year student at the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) where she is undergoing a Technician’s Program in Applied Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Being the only lady in her course, she is advocating and working towards breaking the huge gender gap and stereotypes in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics related fields in her country. One of her biggest goals is to get to the highest level possible in her field of studies, create a job for herself in a small but growing Engineering sector in her country, provide jobs and inspire more young women to take up courses of their choices in male dominated fields. She was a member of YALI - Young African Leaders Initiative’s (Regional) Cohort Four (4) in Accra- Ghana, where she took courses in Leadership, Civic education and Entrepreneurship. She believes it was one of the first steps towards achieving her goals. Ms Darboe loves to volunteer and give selfless service to her community because she believes it is one of the greatest ways one can contribute to national development.
